A fantastic specimen of gem garnet var. grossular crystals featuring vibrant green phantoms from the renowned Jeffrey Mine in Quebec, Canada. The grossular crystals exhibit vivid green cores, a result of chromium, surrounded by transparent, colorless zones. These sharp, rhombic dodecahedral crystals, up to 2mm in size, boast a glassy luster and striking contrast. Green-cored garnets are among the rarest and most unique Jeffrey mine garnets, making this piece highly sought after. This was mined decades ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. Some contacts. On acrylic base.

Beauty!
