A cool specimen of rich blue carletonite crystals with calcite from this famous locality - Mont Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, Canada. The carletonite is one of the very rare mineral species unique for the type locality Mont Saint-Hilaire. It occurs only there and none has been found for many years. Crystals are not often seen and most of the pieces are just cleavages. This specimen shows several crystals to 10mm with a strong luster. The color varies from colorless to rich royal blue. The cubic crystals are from translucent to gemmy. Minor yellow calcite is seen too . For references see the 1990 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 21, # 4. Some contacts. On acrylic base.
Superb carletonite!
