Fascinating specimen of rare Garnet var. Grossular with green phantoms together with Clinochlore and Diopside from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The Grossular crystals are gem, with rich green cores, which are result of Chromium, surrounded by transparent, colorless areas. They have sharp crystallization, glassy luster and irresistible color. Apple-green Diopside crystals form the base. Grey Clinochlore rosettes are seen too. Very hard to find one of these now – the mine is closed. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In very good condition – some small contacts. On acrylic base.
Astonishing!
